Elisha at Shunem.mp3
Elisha went to a place called Shunem. A lady asked him to come and have a meal with her. He did this and whenever he was in Shunem he went to see the lady and had a meal.
One day she said to her husband,"I know that this man is a Holy man of God. Why not build up the wall and make him a room in the roof. Put in it a bed, a table, a lamp and a seat and let him stay there whenever he comes to us?"

Elisha came and stayed there. He said to the lady, "You have done this for me. Is there anything I can do for you?"
The lady said that she was quite happy with what she had but Elisha knew that she did not have a child. He said, "This time next year you will have a baby in your arms."
The woman was filled with happiness because she knew that Elisha was a man of God and that he was telling the truth.
Next year a son was born as Elisha had said.

When the child was old enough he went out to see his father cutting the corn. Suddenly he said, "Oh, my head! My head!"
His father told a servant to carry him to his mother. When he got there he sat on his mother's lap till midday and then he died. She carried him up to Elisha's room and laid him on his bed, shut the door and went out.
She said to her husband, "Send me one of the servants and a donkey. I must go to the man of God as fast as I can and then come straight back."

When the donkey was ready she said to the servant, "Lead on and do not slow down until I tell you."

When she reached Elisha she bent down and got hold of his feet. Elisha had a servant called Gehazi and he moved forward to try and push her away but Elisha said,"Leave her alone; she is very upset.
Then she told Elisha what had happened. Elisha said to Gehazi, "Take my stick and run. Do not stop to speak to anyone. Lay my stick on the boy's face."
Gehazi went ahead and laid the stick on the boy's face but he made no sound and there was no sign of life. Elisha and the boy's mother arrived later. Elisha went into the room where the boy was lying dead. Elisha and Gehazi prayed to God. Next he got onto the bed and lay upon the child and pressed on him. The child's body grew warm. Next he breathed into the child's mouth seven times and the boy sneezed and then opened his eyes. He was alive. Elisha called to the child's mother who was very greatful and the boy walked out of the room with her.
