The Letter of Paul to Philemon

I know you are a good Christian and that you faithful to Jesus and to Christian people.

I have something to ask you to do. I have Onesimus with me. He is your slave and I know that he did not work very hard for you and you feel he was useless.  He has become a Christian and he has been very helpful to me. He is coming back to you.  Please welcome him back and if you think he has done anything wrong please forgive him. Do not treat him as a slave but treat him as a brother.

Jesus tells us to forgive one another.

This is what it means when we say "forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors."

We do not know what Philemon did when Onesimus got back but we must hope that he did what Paul asked and forgave Onesimus.
