The Stilling of the storm. Matthew Chaper 8 verses 23-27

One day Jesus got into a fishing boat with some of his disciples and they set out to cross to the other side of the Sea of Galillee. Jesus was very tired because he had been healing people of various diseases. He had also been preaching and telling people about God.

When Jesus got into the boat the sea was very calm so he lay down and went to sleep.

The disciples were probably very pleased that He was able to get some rest.

At first the sea was calm but suddenly there was a storm. There was a terrible gale and huge waves came up against the boat. The boat rocked up and down and sometimes the waves sent water crashing into the boat.

The disciples were afraid that the boat would sink or that the terrible gale would blow it onto the rocks. They were very frightened and shouted to Jesus to wake up. "Do you not care if we are all drowned?" they asked.

Jesus sat up. "Why are you so frightened and why have you so little faith he asked?" Then He told the wind to stop blowing and the waves to settle down. Immediately the sea was calm.

The disciples were amazed. "What sort of man is this?" they thought, "that even the wind and the waves do what he says?"
